Stress v/s Depression

In this article, we will be talking about an important topic that is "Stress v/s Depression. What is the difference between stress & depression?". In our day-to-day life, it is getting difficult for us to understand the difference between stress and depression. But first, let us know what is stress and depression and their symptoms.

Symptoms Of Depression:

Depression

When something unexpected happens to you.

A breakup. A family crisis. A totally irrational negative reaction to a traumatic event. You may not realize your mental health is experiencing trouble, but the overwhelming sense of stress and anxiety will show up in your body every so often. Any positive feelings you might have had may also have faded away, and you find it hard to sleep at night, let alone get any rest. The constant reliving of negative memories is the biggest source of stress for many, and it can lead to a combination of physical and mental problems. If you find yourself wearing your pants as if they’re on fire, get your head in the game. From the age of 10, I was warned about the possible effects of my cousin being diagnosed with PTSD. It became clear that many factors contribute to PTSD — divorce, societal injustices, extreme amounts of stress in high school, victimization through a traumatic event. But my cousin is the exact opposite of what I was taught about PTSD. The stress that his PTSD symptoms produced was different from what I went through.

Symptoms Of stress :

Stress

Different individuals react to stress differently. Allowing people to find the treatment and coping mechanisms for themselves may be difficult at first, but over time, learning how to cope will be easier and perhaps even more effective. If someone is dealing with self-starvation or severe food problems, they could start out on the wrong foot. However, they may become more comfortable with low food intake and eating more vegetables. Learning to balance self-eating with exercise could be helpful. Placing yourself back in the flow after the grocery store scramble could be a powerful relief for a person exhausted from the never-ending barrage of shopping and cleaning. Try to cope with stress as best you can until you can find the right medicine. Getting the proper help is one of the most important lessons that someone can learn.

What is the difference between stress & depression?

While you may have some of the same symptoms, there are a few key differences in both of the two main stressors. Any stubborn depressive thoughts are a sign of your distorted thought process, but obsessive-compulsive tendencies can be a good sign of your overall wellness. People with OCD will try to tidy their home and try to keep it in order to control their thoughts, however, this may not be beneficial and may backfire. Personally, I’ve found by removing clutter from my workspace and focusing on my day-to-day tasks, has made me feel like I can relax more. I’ve also developed a good habit of taking my dog and getting some well-needed rest! I’m sure that this is a good sign of a happy and healthy life.

Exercise and a healthy lifestyle can also be lifesavers. Unfortunately, we all know the myth that people who exercise are some sort of lazy fools, but one in five Americans is classified as obese. Exercise is the best way to lose weight. In some of my patients, I’ve seen them lose more than 50 pounds, and their depression and anxiety were reduced significantly. Still, many of these people find it very difficult to exercise. I usually take a Pilates class twice a week, but there are other options, from tennis or soccer to basketball or boxing. Whatever format you choose, it helps.

Is it realistic to go back to school?

I did not go back to school a year ago, and it took me nearly a year to start up again. For those considering sending themselves back to the classroom, it may seem expensive. However, the costs of school are significantly lower than people think. With unlimited online classes, the class materials and fees are minimal. With the continuation of my degree in my MSI in Computer Science at Emerson College, I am currently studying English at Northeastern University, although I do not plan on finishing the course when I officially graduate. I have gotten a lot out of continuing my education, but I’ve also had a job teaching at Emerson for the past two years. The necessity of additional money has led me to research other ways to balance your finances without having to rely on student loans.

For me, the key to ensuring happiness in life is living my life through the lens of my heart. This is not always easy and I have made mistakes along the way, but that means embracing them. I am still learning, but I am committed to improving. There are many facets to life that can be difficult to change. With every step, I’ve come to understand the value of change and that it does not have to be painful. I look forward to getting out of my comfort zone and continuing my education. I’m just going to enjoy my learning experience.

I realize I am still young. However, I take life as it comes, and I find that the best thing you can do is go with the flow.
