The Craze Of Web Series 

A web series is a series of non-scripted or scripted online movies, it is generally of episodic form, uploaded on the internet. The rise of web series emerged in the late 1990s and became more prominent in the early 2000s. Web series can be generally watched on a range of platforms like Netflix, Amazon prime, IMDB, Watch series, Yes! Movies etc. Netflix and Amazon prime are among the popular OTT (over-the-top) platforms available in India. In 2018, we have seen a boom in web series produced in India. Big companies like Netflix and Amazon have started to invest heavily in regional content. Web series have gained popularity because they are taking us where television won't.  Web series allows the audience to watch shows at their convenience. Web series are seen replacing Television nowadays. The web series has become the new favorite, especially among youth. 

For years, people have planned their schedule around their favorite TV show, but with web series, people have the freedom to watch their favorite show as and when they please, and that too without advertisement breaks. Web series are pushing our boundaries of imagination and leaving the burden of virtues behind. Another important reason why we resent TV is the barrage of advertisements that spoils our viewing experience. The skip button along with the shorter interruption during program viewing sits well with the viewers who value every second they spend in front of the screen. The monthly fee for a content platform is less than the price for a movie ticket at a complex. So for students on a budget or adults too tired from a long day at the office, subscribing to a content platform is a bargain. Netflix allows multiple users to watch content from the same account. Also, they routinely produce original content that is diverse and internationally relevant. The highest watched web series in the world is " The Witcher " with 76 million views.
